Agenda:

Mana Clash tiebreaker 

  • Brian to resend the notes for the specific text to add this in as an option

24 month VR term amendment 

  • Changing by-laws to allow Voting member term limit to 24 months 
  • Vote:
    • Aye: Beasts, Trolls, Spawners, Horde
  • Beasts & Horde will rotate at the next Convocation (#8 summer 2021) – Cam will overlap with Aaron next meeting
  • Spawners will rotate towards end of the year
  • Trolls (as CP) will rotate spring of 2022 and find a new clerk
  • ACTION: Shawn will take a stab at the update by-law language

Workshop restriction 

  • Spawners weren’t opposed to it but seems like hand-in-hand with strip mine restriction
  • Beasts concern that we haven’t had a lot of events to evaluate if things should change
  • Horde agrees that shelving this topic might be a good idea. Also agree with DS that it’s tied to restricting other cards (library, factory, etc)
  • Trolls – feedback ended up just talking around strip mine. There would have to be a coupled change, possible to maybe even consider a 2-of restriction

Possible PAC A40 rules 

  • Not as urgent as before, as Alpha 40+ has taken some of the market, but still want to get together on some idea for a A40 format similar to Eternal Weekend feel and ruleset
  • ACTION: Jeremy and Brian will connect in Phoenix and discuss more

Membership changes

  • Unfortunate, but it is what it is
  • Sin City folks is a much smaller group and they aren’t totally focused on Old School. They play a lot of EDH. Maybe there is opportunity to bring them back later
  • Dudes of Paradise – maybe we reach out to them for membership, perhaps they will come to Chalice

Upcoming events

  • Trolls holding a small in person event, the next big event will be July 2022 (info coming soon! maybe 9 or 16), the LGS is trying to throw another “Border Brawl-type” event in Sept (2-day with OS, Legacy, etc), commitment from Jesper
  • Horde may want to connect about that event, otherwise no big events planned. Having some initial conversations about small events in the fall (once vaccinations pick up)
  • Beasts have Chalice planned for October (columbus day weekend), possible have something in writing about the COVID risk as the event (disclaimer), ramping up to small events outdoors and eventually bi-weeklies again
  • Spawner no big events for this year. Possibly The Risk in Feb 22… still in planning stages. Easing into smaller meetups here or there. 

Proxies??

  • Should have some discussion of proxies possibly with crazy values of cards. Maybe something people can use for events
  • What are the use cases? 
    • The Chinese proxy deck – no go, we don’t want this
    • Players who can’t afford the cards – possible?
    • People who have the cards (or used to) and it’s too valuable now
  • ACTION: Solicit feedback from the groups on the different possibilities
  • Maybe PAC Printed Proxies? Involve old school artists?
  • Another thought: keep groups small, vet the attendees to reduce risk, invite only
